The Consumer Health Information Service (CHIS) is a service of the Palm Beach County Library System. The mission of the Consumer Health Information Service is to contribute to the quality of life of Palm Beach County residents by improving their access to health-related information.
This website is designed with you, the consumer, in mind. Here is a comprehensive and authoritative collection of health information resources. Our professional staff of librarians will provide personalized assistance and follow-up at each branch by telephone or e-mail, and will consider your inquiry confidential. Our website and the CHIS are both free to the public.

Disclaimer: The information provided by the Consumer Health Information Service (CHIS) or any other health-related information provided by the Palm Beach County Library System (PBCLS) does not imply medical recommendation, endorsement, or approval by either the CHIS or the PBCLS. The CHIS and the PBCLS do not provide medical advice or interpretation of information. Information and materials provided are intended for use as general information and should not be used as a substitute for consultation with a health care provider.
Materials Selection: The Library has implemented a website to provide a friendly, useful access point to the Library’s resources and information on the internet; to provide research tools to help users find what they need quickly and efficiently; and to provide a set of preselected sites and resources that are reliable and safe for all library users.
The CHIS librarians do not write health information, except to provide brief descriptions of the website links. Instead, CHIS librarians find, select, and organize full-text consumer health information that is current, relevant, accurate, and unbiased.
To help us improve the site, we collect statistics about its usage. None of this information identifies individual users or associates individuals with the pages they visit. When inquiries are emailed to us, we store the question and the email address so we can respond electronically, if required. We may ask users to volunteer information for statistical purposes related to funding. This information is optional; our email service is not contingent on the user providing this information to us. This information is tabulated and quantified in the most general sense and does not identify individual users.
Florida Public Records Law: Under Florida law, email addresses are public records. If you do not want your email address released in response to a public records request, do not send electronic mail to this entity. Instead, contact this office by phone or in writing.
